Martin’s day turns sour

Two straight victories seemed like a realistic goal for Mark Martin until fate intervened Sunday at Dover International Speedway.

Martin led 77 laps but was eliminated from contention by bad luck on the 125th lap when the cars of Steve Park and Ryan Newman crashed in front of him. As traffic streamed by on both sides, Martin had nowhere to go when Park’s Chevrolet, already thoroughly crunched, rolled slowly across the track in front of him.
