-- Lap 4 - Rusty Wallace takes the lead.

CAUTION 1 Lap #7 Kyle Petty got into Brett Bodine, Bodine spins. Ron Hornaday got into John Andretti and then, as DW said, "Andretti Knocked the fire out of Hornaday"

RESTART Lap #12 (after 5 caution laps)

-- Lap 18 - Jerry Nadeau is in the pits (SIGH) a lot of water coming out of the over flow. (and my eyes) He goes behind the wall with a broken water pump.
-- Lap 48 - Jeremy Mayfield is smoking, he gets black flagged and brings it in .... They go to the garage to change the transmission.
-- Lap 70 - Brett Bodine is back out.
-- Lap 80 - Mike Skinner Pits early, after he goes a lap down.
-- Lap 86 - Jimmy Spencer flat left front tire, he pits, and looses 2 laps.
-- Lap 90 - Kenny Schrader and Mike Wallace are in the pits.
-- Lap 94 - Ward Burton is in the pits.
-- Lap 97 - Jimmy Spencer gets a lap back
-- Lap 105 - Scheduled
GREEN FLAG pits begin ....
-- Lap 109 - Rusty Wallace pits and gives up the lead to Ricky Rudd

CAUTION 2 Lap # 121 Ricky Craven wrecks, he walked away Okay.

RESTART Lap #134 (after 13 caution laps) Rusty Wallace (lead all but 6 laps), Tony Stewart, Ricky Rudd, Mark Martin and Johnny Benson are the top five. 18 cars on the lead lap.

-- Lap 140 - Mark Martin and Johnny Benson get together fighting for 4th.
-- Lap 145 - Andy Houston coasts into the pits
-- Lap 146 - Tony Stewart bumps Rusty Wallace for the lead.

CAUTION 3 Lap # 199 Andy Houston gets loose and wrecks right in front of Ward Burton. Burton wrecks. A little difference of opinions from both drivers, they both feel one ran over the other. Burton said that is twice this year Houston hit him. Martinsville memories. Houston raised his helmet in motion to Burton .

- Casey Atwood had to re-pit due to a catch can left in the car.

RESTART Lap #216 (after 17 caution laps) Ricky Rudd takes the lead .... Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon round out the top 5.

CAUTION 4 Lap #218 Kurt Busch wrecks with help from team mate Matt Kenseth.

RESTART Lap #221 (after 3 caution laps)

-- Lap 225 - Rusty Wallace retakes the lead.

CAUTION 5 Lap # Big wreck .... Kenny Schrader and Bill Elliott get together, Terry Labonte, Michael Waltrip, Casey Atwood, Bobby Hamilton, and all wreck.

RESTART Lap #239 (after 6 caution laps)

-- Lap 243 - Bill Elliott, Terry Labonte and Michael Waltrip are in the garage for damage work.
-- Lap 251 - Jimmy Spencer is up to 8th, from 2 laps down!

CAUTION 6 Lap #281 Andy houston Smokes ....

Jeff Gordon
was blocked in his pit and had to back up.

RESTART Lap #286 (after 4 caution laps) Rusty Wallace leads .... 16 cars on the lead lap.

CAUTION 7 Lap #299 John Andretti made contact with Jerry (darn) Nadeau, Nadeau spins and wrecks

RESTART Lap #304 (after 5 caution laps) Rusty continues to dominate

-- Lap 322 - Kenny Wallace goes into the garage :( Engine Failure ... Kenny was positive and happy about a good team and car!
-- Lap 362 - Tony Stewart re-takes the lead from Rusty Wallace after a good long battle of side by side racin'!
-- Lap 380 - Tony Stewart enjoys a 2 second lead.
-- Lap 380 - Dale Jarrett and Johnny Benson get together Jarrett does a great job keeping the car straight.

CAUTION 8 Lap #394 Dave Blaney hits the wall.

RED FLAG

Rick Mast and Dale Jarrett (out of gas) cannot get their cars started. Dale Jarrett had to be pushed to his pit. Mike Skinner also needed to be pushed.

RESTART Lap #398 (after 4 caution laps) Single File restart -- Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Rusty Wallace, Ricky Rudd and Johnny Benson are the top 5. 15 cars on the lead lap.

Tony Stewart wins! 10th career victory 1st of this season. Tony's first win was here at Richmond in Sept 99. Tony does the polish victory lap holding up 3 fingers!

Rusty Wallace gave Jeff Gordon several taps and a points finger .... Rusty and Jeff got into it in the garage area.
