Preview and Fact Sheet
WOW - It's Harvick by a Foot
In only his 3rd career Winston Cup start,
rookie driver Kevin Harvick has taking his Richard Childress
owned GM Goodwrench Chevrolet to Victory lane. The
finish of the race was very reminiscent to last years finish
where Dale Earnhardt held off bobby Labonte at the line.
This time it was Harvick holding off Jeff Gordon by 0.006
seconds. Jerry Nadeau brought his UAW/Delphi Chevy
home in 3rd place, with Dale Jarrett 4th and Terry Labonte
5th. Jeff Gordon now leads the point standings with 613,
37 ahead of Dale Jarrett and 73 ahead of Johnny Benson.
Sterling marlin drops to 4th, with a 35th place finish after
loosing an engine late in the race. Michael Waltrip
rounds out the top 5 in the point standings.

Nemechek
avoids scrapes
Rick
Minter
The front-runners in Saturday's Busch Grand National race at
Atlanta Motor Speedway turned into a bunch of wall-bangers,
all except Joe Nemechek, who managed to stay in the groove and
win the Aaron's 312. Runner-up Greg Biffle lost the lead on
the last round of pit stops and was closing on Nemechek when
he slid into the wall. The rookie kept going, but smoke poured
from his right front tire. His damaged tire finally went flat
as his No. 60 Ford sat on pit road after the race.
