- Willard Scott, The weatherman for NBC's Today Show, attended his first NASCAR Race as the Grand Marshal and said those Famous 4 words ... Gentleman start your engines .....
- Perfect Racin' weather for fans and drivers! - Mid 60's and partly sunny.

- Jeremy Mayfield, Robby Gordon and Kurt Bush missed driver introductions and had to go to the back of the field. Jeremy Mayfield is sick, DW asked if he could be relief driver!

-- Lap 1- Dale Jarrett leads from the pole, Kevin Harvick is fast getting into 2nd ...

CAUTION 1 Lap #3 Jerry Nadeau (darn) wrecks in turn 4.

The 3rd week in a row LAP 3 in under the Yellow CAUTION flag
- FOX and the speedway are silent, there is a release of 7,000 black balloons and all the fans hold up 3 fingers in a silent salute to Dale. (tears again)

-- Kevin Harvick takes the #29 GM Goodwrench Chevy to the lead!

RESTART Lap #6 (after 3 caution laps)

-- Lap 20 - Jeff Gordon (has lead all 4 races this season) takes the lead ...

-- Lap 42 - I personally, as you know, Am keeping my eye on Jerry Nadeau (in the same car he won here in Nov!) has climbed back up to 21st from the restarting position of 40th!

-- Lap 48 - Green Flag Pits begin ...

-- Lap 72 - Todd Bodine is reporting his feet are VERY VERY Hot.

CAUTION 2 Lap #83 Steve Park (DNF) lost his motor.

-- The current leader, Jeff Gordon leads the field into the pits ...

-- Dale Earnhardt Jr. over shot his pit box and had to back up, losing a lot of time.

-- Michael Waltrip's hood is up .... he goes back out ... he had a broken bump stop?

-- Lap 93 - Dale Jarrett Takes the lead from Jeff Gordon, then Jeff takes it back.

-- Lap 108 - Jeremy Mayfield is in the pit for something loose in the right front, he goes into the garage.

-- Lap 120 - Bobby Labonte reports he is pushing like a dump truck.

-- Lap 135 - Green Flag Pits begin with Rusty Wallace, who says he has an under steer ...

-- Lap 142 - Jeff Gordon is out of fuel and almost stopped on the track. Coasting to the pit.

-- Lap 143 - Jeff Burton is running on 7 cylinders.

-- Lap 147 - Dale Jarrett, the race pole sitter, retakes the lead after this round of Green Flag Pits cycles out.

-- Lap 150 - Dave Blaney (DODGE!) takes the lead.

-- Lap 151 - Todd Bodine made an unscheduled pit and went a lap down, he had a vibration, something loose in the left side tires.

-- Lap 153 - Jeremy Mayfield is back out.

CAUTION 3 Lap #159 Robby Gordon hit the wall, Oil on the track.

-- Dale Jarrett pit, pit road was not open. Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Matt Kenseth, Michael Waltrip, Ricky Rudd and Rusty Wallace also pit. They are penalized and forced to the tail end of the lead lap.

RESTART Lap #167 (after 7 caution laps) Dave Blaney leads

-- Lap 182 - Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is reporting a vibration.

CAUTION 4 Lap #205 Todd Bodine spins coming off turn 4.

Rusty Wallace and Jimmy Spencer had long pits with their hoods up.

RESTART Lap #210 (after 5 caution laps) Its 1, 2, 3 = Dave Blaney, Jerry Nadeau and Kevin Harvick!!!!!

-- Lap 216 - Dave Blaney has something has a loose lug (Oh that's rough :( )

-- Lap 228 - Kyle Petty is slowing and headed into the garage :(

CAUTION 5 Lap #231 Mark Martin is Smoking and goes to the garage. Mark slid in pit road and almost hit the wall.

The left rear tire fell off Dave Blaney's car, the car has soon bad damage, this is a shame. But DW made a funny ,,,, singing "You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel".

RESTART Lap #238 (after 7 caution laps) Dale Jarrett is in the lead.

-- Lap 239 - Bobby Labonte is running on 7 cylinders.

-- Lap 243 - Jerry Nadeau (on my nerves!) Takes the lead again!

-- Lap 245 - Ricky Craven is in the pits with a lost cylinder.

-- Lap 256 - Ron Hornaday makes an unscheduled pit for clutch problem and was pushed to the garage

-- Lap 265 - Dale Jarrett retakes the lead

CAUTION 6 Lap #274 Matt Kenseth goes up in flames (oil fire) and hits the wall Hard ... he is out and okay! You can get out fast with the HANS device on!

-- Bobby Labonte is smoking bad.

-- Kenny Schrader had the catch can left in the car, he had to come back into the pit and go to the tail end of the last line.

RESTART Lap #283 (after 9 caution laps) Dale Jarrett leads

-- Lap 284 - Jerry Nadeau retakes the lead (Oh boy!!) from Dale Jarrett and right behind is Kevin Harvick with Dale Earnhardt, Jr closing in!

CAUTION 7 Lap #291 Mike Skinner gets up into the wall.

Dale Jarrett and Sterling Marlin stayed out.

RESTART Lap #296 (after 5 caution laps) On the restart the top 5 are ... Dale Jarrett, Sterling Marlin, Kevin Harvick, Jerry Nadeau and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.,

-- Lap 296 - Tony Stewart is off the oace and in the pits.

-- Lap 297 - Jerry Nadeau is in the lead again, Oh I can't take this! this is a great race! Some super racin' here!

CAUTION 8 Lap #300 Sterling Marlin Blew up.... so sad.

RESTART Lap #305 (after 4 caution laps) 20 laps to go ..... Michael Waltrip got into Andy Huston, no caution

-- Lap 319 - I can't look sorry!!! 3 WIDE YIKE Harvick is in the lead WOW This is amazing!

-- Lap 321 - Dale Earnhardt Jr cuts a tire

Kevin Makes a burnout any fan would love! The GM Goodwrench car is going to victory lane!!! Richard Childress in tears as Kevin Takes the Chevy around for a Polish Victory-lap, saluting the fans with 3 fingers!! Just amazing! For all of you at DEI and Childress God bless ya!

ALL The crew members are out congratulating Kevin (I can't see through the tears to type) Memories of Dale's Daytona 500 win!

Kevin now is 11th and points and leads for Rookie of the year (Unofficially)

Kevin Harvick said "I think somebody was watching over us"

Not much will ever come Close to what we NASCAR fans just watched.
